Following the attack from Peter Okoye, Youth Renaissance, a group claiming to be part of the All Progressives Congress, has called for the arrest of P-square.

NAIJ.com had reported that the other half of P-square, Peter Okoye, had expressed that he is ashamed of the country. He also noted that the government had been failing since 1960.

While reacting to the comments made by Peter, the group urged security agencies to arrest him for making rude comments about the government.

Read statement below: “We read the scurrilous remarks credited to Mr Peter Okoye of the Psquare group against the Federal Government’s job-saving policy in the entertainment industry with great anger and vexation.”

“Least of all persons to make scathing remark against the government is the Psquare group which the local content policy of the Federal Government dusted-up from the valley of obscurity.

“Where was Peter Okoye or Psquare brand in 1999 when foreign music dominated our airwaves? If not for the government policy which mandated all broadcast stations in Nigeria to pay attention to Nigerian music by playing 95 percent of Nigerian songs every day, would Peter Okoye or Psquare be known to anybody in Nigeria today?”

“Or would they have competed with better American music which dominated our airwaves then?“

There was palpable fear and confusion in the country during the weekend when report cropped up in a section of the media that the president has passed on at the age of 74.

However, the presidency while describing the report as unfounded, said Buhari was alive and enjoying his holiday.

To further confirm the report that the president was not dead, presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina on Monday morning released some pictures of the President watching him (Adesina) as a guest on Channels TV on Sunday.

In the pictures, Buhari was spotted donning a black kaftan and a black cap in a palour while watching Adesina on Channels Television.

He wrote on his official Facebook page, “As he holidays in London, President Muhammadu Buhari keeps abreast with events at home. On Sunday, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, was guest of Channels Television. President Buhari also kept a date, January 22, 2017.”

The presidency has maintained that President Muhammadu Buhari is alive and not dead.

Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to President Buhari, disclosed this via his verified Twitter handle, @GarShehu.

“He is alive and well! President Buhari is not magical. He cannot be holidaying in the UK & be in Germany, dead or alive at the same time,” he noted.

“He is unlike a past President who was at Ota, w/ Chief Obj & attending the Trump inauguration in D.C, being in two places at the same time!” Shehu added in a subtle attack on immediate past president, Goodluck Jonathan.

Shehu’s tweets were aimed at dispelling rumours that President Buhari died in a London hospital on Saturday.

Recall that Buhari on Thursday left Nigeria for the United Kingdom on a ten-day medical vacation.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, in a statement, said the leave is part of the president’s annual vacation and he (Buhari) is expected to resume work on February 6, 2017.

The presidential spokesman also stated that during the vacation, President Buhari would also undergo routine medical check-ups.

“What is wrong with going on vacation? Didn’t I go last year at the same time?”, Buhari quizzed while responding to a question from the journalists on his way to London.

The Presidency also said that there is absolutely nothing to worry about over Buhari’s medical vacation, adding that, however, a lot of good will and prayers are necessary at all times.

Adesina spoke shortly after the president had told journalists that there was nothing wrong with going on vacation.

Asked if there is anything to worry about, the presidential spokesman responded:

“Nothing absolutely nothing! We need to show good will towards our leaders, particularly President Muhammadu Buhari who is working to give Nigeria a new footing, a new orientation.

“Nothing absolutely to worry about, but a lot of good will, a lot prayers are necessary at all times.”

Adesina also said: “The president is going to rest. You know that God did work of creation for six days and on the seventh day he rested. So, if God needed to rest, how much more human being? So, the president is just going to rest and the statement we have released is straight forward. He will go on this leave and during the leave, he will do routine medical checkups.”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic says critics who doubted his Premier League impact will never forget him

Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic insists he is out to prove those who said he couldn’t make an impact in the Premier League wrong.

In an interview with Sky Sports’ Thierry Henry, the Swedish striker said he remembers the criticism he has received in the past from ex-players he “never remembered”, and is adamant those ex-players will remember him for the rest of their lives.
Ibrahimovic has scored 18 goals in all competitions for Jose Mourinho’s side this season, having arrived on a free transfer from PSG in the summer.
Speaking ahead of the Super Sunday clash against Liverpool, the 35-year-old said the criticism he has received in the past gives him energy, and insists he did not take the easy way out by joining United.
Ibrahimovic said: “I have no problem [with the criticism] because I went through this my whole career, this is something that triggers me, gives me energy. Continue reading

Zlatan Ibrahimovic out to ‘boss’ Manchester as United prepare to face City

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has called on his team-mates to improve their performance ahead of the EFL Cup derby
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has called on his team-mates to improve their performance ahead of the EFL Cup derby

Zlatan Ibrahimovic says Manchester United want to be “the boss of the city” ahead of Wednesday’s EFL Cup derby showdown, live on Sky Sports.

Local rivals United and City have already met this season in the Premier League, with Pep Guardiola’s side taking the points during a 2-1 win at Old Trafford.

Ibrahimovic is no stranger to a derby game, having featured in El Clasico – under the management of Guardiola at Barcelona – as well as the Milan derby and Le Classique.

And despite a barren recent run in front of goal, the former Sweden international says he is gunning to get one over his newest foes.

“It’s a rival game between two teams from the same city – one is light blue, one is red. You always want to be the boss of the city, of course,” Ibrahimovic told the club’s official matchday programme United Review. “I have big experience for these kinds of games. I’ve played all over Europe in similar games, the kind of games, let’s say, where the heat is. I came out as a winner many times in these moments so let’s hope this is another moment I can come out as a winner.”

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has praised Ibrahimovic, calling him a great influence in the dressing room

But despite increased scrutiny, the veteran forward says his team-mates believe in themselves.

“We cannot go back and change the result, absolutely not, but we can make a difference in the upcoming game. We have an opportunity to play against City again, at home,” Ibrahimovic added.

“We didn’t do good in the last game because we lost, obviously, but let’s change that for this game and win the game and go further in the cup. That’s what we want. We believe in ourselves and believe in what we are doing, that’s the main thing.

The last Manchester derby in the competition came in 2010, where United won the semi-final fixture 4-3 on aggregate and went on to lift the trophy after beating Aston Villa in the final.

Ibrahimovic, who has scored just one in eight in all competitions, is targeting an improved performance following September’s disappointment, and is keen to bounce back following their 4-0 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

“They have good quality players, they know what they’re doing and what they need to do, but at the same time we know also what we need to do and what we are doing. It’s nice to play against good players because they are the games that you can bring out the maximum of yourself.”

Asked if he had bumped into any City fans around Manchester, he joked: “I’ve met a lot but they became United supporters when they met me!”
